The 10th XCION Bali Conference

Memoir Logs
Indonesia’s digital infrastructure is shackled by foreign control, a structural vulnerability that undermines our sovereignty. Our reliance on external cloud services and critical systems is not just a logistical weakness—it is a strategic failure that places our nation at the mercy of external interests.
At the Conference, I laid bare the harsh reality: acquiring foreign technology does not equate to sovereignty; it cements dependency. Each foreign-built system we adopt forfeits our control, making us tenants in a digital landscape we should own.
This is not an issue of capability—it is an issue of conviction. Indonesia possesses the intellect and expertise to develop its own technology, yet decision-makers remain trapped in a cycle of complacency, preferring short-term convenience over enduring security. This inertia is a national liability.
We are at a crossroads. Either we seize control of our digital destiny now, or we resign ourselves to perpetual dependence. Sovereignty is not an abstract ideal—it is an assertion of power. If we fail to act, we risk becoming mere bystanders in our own technological future.
